Hamish says it's snow good.

See the boxer puppy ohhhh very cute..

Hi All

She said if I feel bad she would just put a pic on of the living room showing the snow outside. Well the snow has gone today and now it is all wet and slushy and everytime I come in I have to have my feet washed !!!

So all I can say is Baa Humbug......
PS Can anybody tell me how to move pictures on this blog. It seems to have a mind of it's own now.

Hamish is Snowbound

Hi Everyone
I guess you get the picture. The only time we went outside today was when it was absolutely necessary. Gina went to the docs ( seems all is OK) and a couple of quick visits up to the chickens. Quite funny story though. When Jim and I went up this morning to let out les jolies filles it was whiteout and the first chicken put a foot out and then put it back in again, then tried to reach the food by stretching...... in the end Jim made a space in the shed and they had breakfast in bed!!!!!!!!!!!! Came out for a quick sortie ( see how fluent I am now in french!) when the sun came out then straight back to the shed. Don't think they like snow.
Feel sorry for me mates in Angleterre I hear the snow there is pretty serious and about to get more serious. Keep warm and snug everyone. See you after the weekend.

Hamish thinks we may have a White Christmas

Hi Folks

Hey it is just like being in Buxton again. When we arrived in Montcuq in Summer 2003 ( the year of the Canicule heatwave ) we told at that Christmas that it had not snowed in Montcuq for 10 years well it has snowed every single winter since. Round and about Christmas time albeit only for a day or two !!!!

Have to confess to not going too far from the homestead it is bitterly cold as well. The chicks are fine and don't seem to mind the snow ( have this inkling that maybe they are just a bit thick at times !)

Apparently it is the Grandmother's Birthday today. 87 years old today and still ruling with a rod of iron. But hey that is not a bad innings is it.

Happy Birthday Granma Roberts. This is a picture of her with her dad. She is aged about 27 in this picture and that is Gina and her brother Joe with them.

Taken about 1066 I think !!

Hope you are all tucked up and keeping warm. I heard on the news they even have snow in Toulouse.... wow....
See ya

Hamish around Montcuq

Hiya Folks
Sorry about all the confusion. Poor old Gina she has not been well you know - EVER... But don't tell her I told you that. To make up for yesterday's confusion I have instructed my secretary to show you around a little bit of our famous town. Pronounced by theway as  Mon Cook. Don't say it the other way you will get funny looks from anyone who speaks French or has heard of our town on the tele. The Picture at the top of today's blog is the "Hotel de Ville" or Mairie this is where all the biz happens it is on the street known as le Petit Rapporteur. Prizes for anyone who can guess why?

The next 2 pics are of the boulangerie or bakers for us English speaking bods. It is great fresh bread, baguettes and specialities every day. See all the stuff inside Shop is practically emptied by about 9.00 am!!!

The next picture is opposite the Mairie and you find lots of these little excentricities all around the ville all decorated with flowers in the summer. Beautiful arrrrrrrrrrrrr

This next pic is the infamous rue le petit rapporteur. It is very old and much celebrated.

Sorry totally unable to get the video on this to work so I have used one of Gina's photos of Ben to show you. Bit of a poser isn't he. BUT gorgeous with it.

He has the look of a Rasputin about him don't ya think?

See ya tomorrow.

Hamish and co have yet another day off.

Hi Everyone.

Gina is still a bit under the weather but I have persuaded her to do a video of the chickens. Apparently if the lady chickens mature ( which ours have ) at this time of year they are not going to produce eggs until the daylight hours get longer. HENCE no eggs yet, really healthy looking chickens - fabulous - but no EGGS yet .
Think you get the message.

Still never mind, won't be long and they should be strong as oxes when they do. Here is the little video. It really is hilarious when you see them running around after each other's bit of spaghetti I have to say we do not serve bolognese with this and it is best Wheat SPAGHETTI. no eggs whatsoever involved. It has also been yet another glorious day in Quercy Blanc, don't you just love that name, and the bulbs in the garden are peeping through getting ready for the spring, so there you go we are off again on another year. Sorry no spaghetti on the video that one was toooooooooooo long this is a little on and with any luck It should load OK.

While the video is loading, I would like to mention that I have not had a walk for 2 days, I have been round that field till I am dizzy - Hope she gets better soon. The video was too long as well so here is a photo or two.

I am not too keen on the new Blog writing facilities why do things always change when you have got used to them? Incidently Ben looks as if he may have a been doing a dance here. Which dance who knows ???

Hamish fights for the right to get his food.

Hi Folks

Oh boy is Buddy better.  He keeps pushing in at dinnertime and I think all this enforced rest has made him little Mr Pushy !!!!

Jim says he is getting above himself he certainly is getting over and above me.

She went to the hospital today for some Xrays of the breathing appartatus and she looked pretty please so I guess all is OK.  She was going on about the Christmas lights in Cahors apparently they are fan dabby dosie.  Well I might not be a Crankie but I am a Scot.

Here is a pic of moi.  Just had a bath and trim and settling down for a spot of footie.  This is obviously Arsenal because as you can see it is A*** Venger with the hump.

Not a good day for Arsenal.  Now some backdated stuff.  While in England SHE met a rabbit - a very special rabbit.  She is called Carmen and is a house rabbit.  Diane, Gina's sister aquired her because she was not so good had seriously dodgey teeth.  Diane had them removed and now Carmen can run around the house because she can't chew anything.  Here is a pic of the little darling.  Funny thing was the Grandmother, whose is getting a bit past it, thinks it is a cat and everytime it jumps up onto her lap she yells out, "Get this cat off my lap!"  Then a few minutes later says she has saved some chicken for the "cat" - Diane yells back " It's rabbit it doesn't eat chicken."  To which the grandmother replies, "OK, give it some gravy then !!!"  Scary ain't it.......  But Carmen is beautiful and very friendly..

So till we meet again.  Hope things will be back to normal soon.  By the way the chickens are fine, George has gone to a good home he and Ben were growing very rapidly and there is not the facility for 2 cockerels but George is assured a long and pleasant life in Lot and Garonne.

Hamish sees Buddy get better.

Hi Folks

Gina is still unwell, nasty nasty cough ( bronchitis ) but the good news is that Buddy who we think had a mini stroke last week suddenlygot off his chair, walked out into the kitchen, ate ALL his dinner, had a drink of water - proceded to trot up the field, do the biz then came back and sat in his chair positvely smiling !!!!

That made us all very happy.

Also got the Christmas tree up.

Merry Xmas

Hamish - I will be home soon.

Hiya all

This is Gina using HAMISH'S blog without his permission to get a message back to the homestead in Lot France where yes I know it is sunny and bright!!!!!  The weather in England is predictably grey and unsettled BUT I have been to a brilliant exhibition at the Royal Academy of Art in London a SPECTACULAR exhibition of Anish Kapoor's work.

Really inspirational and if you have never seen his work and are even remotely interested you should see it.  It is very inspiring and confronting in a lot of ways.  Loved the block 30 tons of it, of red wax that wove it's way throught 5 galleries like some giant red glacier or continental plate.  AMAZING...  Look him up on the internet.  WONDERFUL......

Sorry can't pass on any pics I am not the Hamish computer but will be back in France and back in business on Monday , not sure what time long way by car.  BUT found this on Lisa's pic's from her visit to Aussie earlier this year.  The dog is Mr Darcy and the lady in the pyjamas is Sue on their new verandah in Peel.  Hopefully Sue will not see herself on the internet don't think she would be amused but we love her any way she comes.  When she sends us pics of Waka and Bolly I will post them here and Hamish can catch up with is two best mates in Australia.

See you soon

Hamish keeps out of trouble....

Hi y'all

Oh boy has this week been busy.  Gina is on the computer ALL the time can't get to it to do the blog. AND I have had to do loads of begging to get her to take pictures.  That pair of reprobates at the top are the two alpacas don't they have great faces !!!!!!  I call the big black fella Rocky because he dodges and weaves like a boxer ( you know the one called Stallone ).

And I have also got a picture of where they live out in the netherlands of the Lot.  We have a couple of really good days recently weatherwise and although things may look peaceful from the outside INSIDE the place is humming.  Gina has been doing tons of work on the book  MY BOOK... and I heard her scream the other day Eureka and honestly I swear it wasn't me I am very religious about my house manners.  There has been stuff in the post and much excitement and I can't begin to tell you how many pictures she has taken of me.  She has also bought a beret - think is it is probably going to end up on my head.  BUT red and black I don't think so......  Anyway here is a pic of the homestead on a cold November day in the Lot.

See told you it was great here.  Buddy has had a dodgy nose and had to go to the Vet's .  Personally I think he has been stuffing it where he shouldn't and that is not anywhere near the chickens because he walks up to the pen and runs like mad till he is out of sight of them and the daft thing is they all run after him because they think he is going to feed them eheheheh.  Still he has a nasty sore on his lower lip and I am keeping well clear cos I don't want one.

Have you seen the new addition to the blog, I just could not resist putting all these luverly puppies in the blog aren't they just gorgeous.

Will hopefully be on the blog tomorrow but I think we are doing photo shoots for the book so hey diddly dee we shall see.

See ya

Hamish goes to the country.....

Hi my friends.

We have had rain rain rain and then we had more rain.  BUT Gina did go to see the Alpacas on strict instructions to bring back photos and here they are.  ( She won't let me go near them after the episode with the chickens - I thought I was helping honest !)  Don't they live in just the most beautiful place.  The other two that are usually there in at their boyfriends for a while yet so the other GIRLS will be increasing the flock soon.

These are the mushrooms that are springing up all over the place at the moment I was going to eat one but I felt this overpowering urge to NOT eat one when Gina gently !!! put her foot behind me.  Just for you to see I got her to post on the blog a picture of Montcuq from on high.  It is a great place.  We all walked down to La Poste this evening to post yet another letter to CPAM and do you know  ( it was about 5.0'clock ) there were still people having coffee outside the Cafe du Centre.  Oh the life, the jolification it never stops here you know.

Beautiful isn't it?  And that is when the weather is wet cold and dreary.  It is paradise when the sun shines as well and it does that most of the time.

I am going to put a couple of pics on here of some of our Friends ( known them for ever ) from the uplands of the Peak District. Congratulations to you all on the birth of the new baby.  Also love to Leanna who has the wigglyist legs in the world.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  XXX

XX  Keep getting well Rick.

Hi Everyone

How are you all?  All at Bonfire Parties ( Buddy and I are almost deaf now so fireworks are not much of an issue here) or are they all taking place at the weekend?

Watched the Dog Whisperer tonight on the Tele.  He was helping this dog who had all sorts of issues and he had trouble keeping his tail up in the air.  You should have seen the contraption to assist him keeping it beyond the bum line - I am going to make sure that I carry it in a seemly manner all the time now.  AND she was watching very closely at the walking machine.  OOOOOOhhhhh  hope that does'nt take on here.  Need plenty of sleep at my time of life.

Found some pics of a certain night in Sauzet when we had fireworks at Rick and Bev's ( they had a dalmation - Isabel, you know the one that looks like spotted dick pudding ) it was great and no one got scared.

This is the gang at Sauzet.  Rick, Isabel, Gina, Liz, Denise, and Bev at the front.

Seriously folks we had a fab evening, enjoy yours and keep safe.  The dogs and cats etc ( even chickens ) might not be quite as enthusiastic about the fireworks.
See ya

Hamish has a day indoors.....

Hi y'all

Been sat at home all day today cos them have been out shopping.  Building stuff again - I think.  So I have been looking throught the photos of Josh and Grace.  Thought you might like a look.  Josh is a mate.  He visits France in much the same way that I make visits around the world.  But his reason for doing it is because his granma and grandad live in France in Tarn and Garonne. ( just up the road from us )  Here are some pics of him and his sister Grace.

So what do you think? Is he incy wincy spider or what?  She has just got to be the bad fairy !!!  Oh and she is soooo pretty toooo.  Now the next picture who do you think this is.  No names cos he will kill me when he sees it on here.

I ask you still playing trains at his age !!!!  Well there could be a lot going on tomorrow judging by all the gear that they came back with.  Now shall we have a competition?   How much do you think is for the chickens and how much is for Buddy and me.

Hamish is hard at work.....

Hi all

It is I LeClerc.... I 'ave been assisting Gina on the new book  Hamish goes to Australia.  There you are I 'ave said it..  Lots of great ideas after talking to Sue and Ross on the phone to Australia.  So SHE has been writing like mad and there has not been much time for a long blog.
That's them in the picture when they came to Souleillou.

You want to see their pad in Aus. wow and I am going there soon.  That is if I can find the passport.

Little picture of their pad in Peel NSW.  So this is a quickie will make more effort tomorrow if I can drag her away from her writing for long enough.

Just time to post some pics of the chucks with the feathers on their legs.  Here are a few....
